Sharon’s Easter started with an egg hunt on Good Friday… “My parents do an egg hunt for the boys – they have to solve the clues to find the eggs hidden around the garden ”
|
Erica enjoys leaving clues for the egg hunt… “It’s a tradition… we only do it for Lee now but I know he gives his dad some of his egg. I actually got Lee an English Easter egg (from the English shop) with a mug, all the rest of the eggs were those tiny things hidden around the house.” |
We have an Easter hunt each year on Easter Sunday. The kids have a wonderful time searching for the eggs in the living area around the house. Here is a layout from last year’s hunt. The kids are showing off their ‘findings’. Credits: Layout was created with my Bunny Prints Value Collection. |

| Hi all I just thought I’d share what our family does for Easter and see how many of us do the same kinds of things, even tho’ we’re so far apart in the world. When the kids were little we would always get them a ‘jolly’ or small present and a biggish Easter egg. We didn’t do a ‘hunt’ as our house isn’t all that conducive to hiding things and we didn’t want them to eat a bunch of chocolate, either. Now that we have grands, it’s great fun. Our younger daughter (Ali) and her three children come down to our oldest daughter’s (Diana) house (which is in the middle geographically) and all the kids are there (Diana has two) – all hyped up and ready to eat chocolate. Diana has this great system – she takes little stickers (circles of different colours) and sticks them all over the house – under stuff and behind things and in closets, etc. The five kids run around snatching up all the stickers they can find, which causes great noise, laughter and confusion. She then brings out a laundry basket full of those plastic eggs all full of candy and the children get to choose as their ‘colour’ comes up – Ali does the colour choosing – that way they have to take turns and the bigger ones don’t snag all the good stuff. This all takes lots of time and give me lots of photo ops After that, we all sit down to Easter dinner and have a wonderful time! (needless to say, the kids don’t eat a lot of dinner) What do you all do for your Easter celebrations?? ….AbbyAbby Adamowski Moderator

Intro To Digital Scrapbooking With Photoshop Class
Have you wanted to learn how to digital scrapbook in Photoshop? Then this class is just for you!
I have just revamped and rewritten this class for those of you who want to learn how to digital scrapbook and the class will be starting on a monthly basis from April 1st at Digital Scrapbook Place. Click Here to find out more!
This 4 week class exclusively for Digital Scrapbooking in Photoshop teaches you step by step how to create 4 different layouts, starting with using a plopper, creating a paper style layout, creating a graphic style layout and creating a layout using a quick click or layered template.
The class includes in depth instructions on how to use each tool, filter and layer style used to create basic layouts. You will also create basic elements, manoeuvre text, learn basic photo edits, as well as saving for printing and for sharing on the web. Give yourself a head start in creating layouts with Adobe Photoshop. This class was written in Photoshop CS5 but the class can be used with versions of Photoshop CS2 and newer.
Interested in More Classes?
I also run classes on Taking Better Snapshots, Delving into Exposure and Editing Photos in Adobe Camera Raw (comes with Photoshop). Check out Digital Scrapbook Place’s Scrapbooking University for more Digital Scrapbooking Classes.

Dedicated DET Handkl
Last month I was fortunate to have dedicated Digital Elite Team member handkl as my dedicated DET member for the month. During that time she did some beautiful layouts with my designs and even had one of them accepted for publication! Congrats Hannah! Unfortunately that means I can’t show that layout to you now but if you read Scrapbook News and Reviews you will see it in the Shabby Chic section in an up and coming issue.
I am going to show you some layouts she did with my kits last month as well as some she has done prior to that. I am sure you will agree Hannah does some lovely work! If you want to see the layouts up close just click on them to view them in the DSP gallery where you can also leave comments.
I love the combination of the sepia tones in the photos and the bright colours of the layout really making this layout pop from the DSP gallery.

I love the gorgeous fantasy scene portrayed in this layout, it is so much fun!
Journaling:
Our visit to the pumpkin farm in October 2009 was on a cold and blustery day, but that didn’t matter to you two. We went for a wagon ride with a tractor pulling us out to the pumpkin field. The two of you loved seeing all the farm animals, especially the messy pigs and then playing in the corn field. But the most important part of the day was finding the perfect pumpkins for us to carve later that day.

There is something so special about family photos arranged into a family tree! I love this layout, it would look fabulous on a canvas!

Changes/Alterations:
1. Layered the Watermelon Damask Background over the Pale Snowflake Linen Background with the Soft Light Blending Mode at 100% Opacity
2. I created a page edge with dark edge of the Watermelon Damask Background (erased all but the dark edge)
3. Paper Snowflakes – slightly re-coloured to have more of a aqua/teal tone.
The photo in this layout is indeed precious. There is something so special about photos of the past, and that shabby goodness works so well with this photo.

Changes/Alterations:
1. Backgrounds: The Shabby Vanilla Mint Background was layered over the Golden Beige Background using the Lighten Blending Mode at 50% opacity.
2. Word Art: Layered the Beige Filigree Background over the word art and then add 2 different shades of brown clipping masks. The first a beige brown at 80% opacity with the overlay blending mode. The second a dark brown at 100% opacity with the overlay blending mode.
Here are some layouts she has done with some of my kits previously, I just love the combination of the photos and colours in this layout! The work beautifully together and her wordart looks fabulous!
Journaling:
The “pink” hue of the morning “sun” on the glistening white “snow” disguises the “cold” morning temperatures.
