A HUGE Thank You

Posted by clikchic on Feb 3, 2010 in News

Thank you to EVERYONE who voted on my designs in the Dell Make It Yours Competition. I am sooo excited to announce that thanks to your votes, all three of my designs made it to the top 25 most voted designs in the competition which meant all three were eligible for judging.

Not only did ‘Not Your Ordinary Coaster’ have the most votes, but it was judged as the most creative entry in the top 25. This means that I won the main prize and the person with the second most votes would have won the voting prize. There was also a runner up prize. I have not heard who won the other two prizes as yet, but I will be sure to post it once I find out.

What did I win? I am so totally excited that I have won such a cool prize!!!

I won a Dell Studio Laptop with my winning Design on it! How cool does it look, especially in the arms of this hunk! I also won a cash prize, some of which I will be using to upgrade my desktop to a new DELL!

There have been some comments as to why some designs were removed from the competition gallery, several of which were on the first couple of pages. It is my understanding that there were voting restrictions and some entries were disqualified due to vote rigging. I was assured by Dell over the phone that not only was my design legitimately the one with the most votes, but voted the most creative independantly of the votes by judging panel who did not know how many votes each entry had.

The judging panel chose my design because it ‘was a great reflection of today’s offices environments’. (I am paraphrasing because I forgot the exact words) The design is VERY me, because I am ALWAYS spilling my coffee and have ruined a number of keyboards doing so! LOL Never on my Dell laptop tho!

For those of you who have wondered or were speculating… I created the design using my own hand created brushes. Those coffee stains were hand created by me. The texture of the background was created by me in photoshop with the help of my own collection of hand made photoshop brushes, blend modes and the creative process.  It is a shame some people saw fit to insult my design and Dell’s handling of the competition. From my perspective they have been entirely professional throughout even disqualifying entries that received votes in an unfair manner.

All of my votes were made by friends and family and members of the digital scrapbooking community. I did a lot of promoting of the competition and all of my votes were genuine.

Thanks again to everyone who voted to me. Despite the negative comments I have managed to receive, I have also had a lot of support and that and such a fantastic prize has made this a fantastic experience!

Most of all, I need to thank Dell, for holding the competition and for your generous prizes!

Oh my gosh I am on the first page!

Posted by clikchic on Jan 25, 2010 in News

My laptop designs (well two of them) have made it to the first page of the Dell competition sorted by votes. I did have three on it for a while but I am slipping a little. I have two more days to get those votes up before they do the judging on the top 25 voted entries.

It would be so exciting to win a laptop with my own design on it.. I want it so bad….

SO… I still really need all the votes I can get to keep my designs in that top 25.. It would be awesome if I could get all three of my designs in there for judging to maximise my chances, which means I need votes on all three of my designs.

You can see and vote on all three of my designs here.

I hope you like them and can spare a minute to vote!

I often get asked where I host my blog…

Posted by clikchic on Nov 16, 2009 in News

There are so many web hosting companies out there and it is hard to sort the good from the bad.

Well I host my blog and my husbands golfing community along with a few other websites of various types with hostgator. They have a reliable service and great support and in my opinion one of the best around for a reasonable price. Their support is available 24/7 and is top notch.

The price is extremely reasonable and not one of those sites that is too good to be true. I have had my websites hosted with them for 5yrs now so can attest to good longstanding service.

If you are looking for webhosting they are well worth checking out. It’s really easy to install a wordpress blog using fantastico in the control panel, a forum, online store or you name it. I love their service so much I have signed up for their affiliate program. So if you are looking for good, reliable and cheap hosting, check them out.

Digiscrapart.com Shoppe Now Closed & Products Available SOON at DSP!

Posted by clikchic on Jan 3, 2009 in News

Well the life of the Digiscrapart.com store was short but sweet, and my SBE store will be closing very soon as well with all my products there currently in closeouts, but onwards and upwards as they say! I am very excited to announce that it is now less than two weeks before my products hit the shelves at Digital Scrapbook Place.

I have been busily packaging and preparing kits for the store especially while on holidays over the Christmas break. My Bio on the Team Digital page is now up and from there you can access all easy links to my products once they hit the shelves as well as my designer forum and gallery.  Stay tuned for up and coming challenges in the forum.

On Jan 1,  Scrapolution was announced, lots of exciting news happening there, with DSP flair, Layout tickers, new designers and new apprentice designers also to come!

My favourite of all of it however, is the fact that DSP will now be offering both 200 & 300ppi versions of all their kits from Jan 1. DSP customers will be able to choose their favourite format for their personal purposes. No other store has gone so far as to offer both formats and I think it will be hugely popular especially when there are so many talented designers at DSP with real originality, style and flair! You won’t see the recycled CU products at DSP like you do everywhere else, and that is what I love so much about it. The individual style and originality of each designer really shines.

So meanwhile, watch this space for updates of the exciting things to come at DSP! I am so very excited to now be part of the biggest and best digital scrapbook site there is on the web!
